Teen Fight Clubs – Another Rude Awakening
The very day I signed the papers for withdrawing my kids from our local school, I found out about teen fight clubs that are going on.
Apparently these teen boys ‘claim’ to be ‘playing’ UFC and get together in various locations to fight and they’re recording it on their phones and sharing the videos with other students.
I’ve scoured YouTube hoping one of them would be dumb enough to post the video – so far, no luck.
One of my boys, who hung around with some of the boys who have been sucked into this new trend asked if I would allow him to go to the local park this weekend. After asking several questions and doing plenty of snooping, I discovered he was being set up to fight.
I’ve never been more pleased or confident in my decision to homeschool than I am at this very moment.
Currently I’m pondering just how to handle this situation. I wish schools had anonymous tip lines that would allow people to notify via Internet or anonymous phone calls. That’s not something that’s offered to our immediate area as of yet.
I don’t know the parents of the boys I know about, so it’s not like I could call – plus, I don’t think I would want my kids implicated in the whole fiasco.
While part of me believes it’s my civil responsibility to report what I know, my parental responsibility is telling me to be thankful I have my kids out of that and to let it become someone else’s problem.
If you were aware of teen fight clubs, what would you do?

I would call the police…THAT can be done ananymously
It can be done anonymously, too.
Call the local police, that’s what I would do.
Definitely call the police. I had a friend who died in high school from boxing. So dangerous.
Ditto on calling the police. Since I worked as a social worker, I have always had the non emergency police number in my phone.
Call the police and if it turns out I know the kids personally, they better run because their heads will roll.
I would call the police ASAP!
you are a slave
Kids will be kids. We used to joust when I was in high school and whip each other with flaming ropes. Nothing bad ever came of it other than a few bruises.
