Teen pregnancy rate in US drops

Amid the news of teen stars like Jamie Lynn Spears getting pregnant at age 16, many people may feel that teens are getting pregnant more often than before. Statistics from the Centers of Disease Control say otherwise though. According to statistics up to 2004, the number of teen pregnancies and JAMIE-LYNN-SPEARS_NCabortions dropped from 1990 to 2004.

When Jamie Lynn, Brittany Spears’ little sister, announced her pregnancy, there was a lot of talk about how she was ruining her life and how shocked people were that this was allowed to happen. Last time I looked, teens do get pregnant and the difference between Jamie Lynn and the teen down the block is really just geography and earning power – in my opinion.
