Teens who play stupid and mother’s who enable them

Ever been caught in a situation where your teenager plays stupid when you’re trying to give them instructions and finally you get so frustrated that you throw up your hands, spit out a few really loud swear words and do the job your damn self just to get it done?

It’s not that I believe my teens are THAT stupid.

It’s not that I believe my teens lack the ability to do the job – even the small ones.

What pisses me off most is the fact that I end up giving them exactly what they want – I let them out of doing the job just to get them out of my hair.

Tonight we had a situation where three boys were sitting in the family room.  The dog tosses her cookies.  She’s done that a couple of times today already and I cleaned it up both times.  She was a little piggish today over the bones we bought for the three big girls and ate more than her fair share.

I do have to admit the other two boys have done more than their fair share of chores and work this week – so I let them slide a little.

I’m in my room doing research on my puppy – trying to prepare for what may lay ahead for us – as far as treatment, diet, finances…

One of the boys comes to the door and asks me what they should do about cleaning up the mess.

“WTF do you think you do?”

“Cleaning up dog puke is just like wiping your rear end and I’d certainly hope you’ve got a good handle on that by the ripe old age of 14 and 15-years-old.”

It seems like the older they get, the lazier they get and the more they play dumb.

They were right in the midst of watching a movie and I shut the television off and told them to go to bed.  They needed to get out of my sight before someone got hurt and it sure as heck was NOT going to be me.

Please tell me my kids aren’t the only ones who pull this crap.  Please tell me it’s normal and not a sign that my good boys have been abducted by aliens and lazy dumbasses have been left in their stead without home of my good boys ever returning.
