Telling Time

Telling Time is a new goal to be added to Charlie’s IEP (the meeting is tomorrow, Thursday morning), and I would say that it seems best that he learn how to do this using a digital clock first. Nonetheless, take a look at this Polar Clock that literally, and colorfully, puts time into motion. Perhaps I might turn it on if the meeting seems to be going on and on……..

The Polar Clock is fabulous! I may have to bookmark it just for fun. I mean, to keep me on time.

Woah, that is SO cool (okay, mesmerizing is probably a bette word)! What a neat way to visualize time passing.

Too much for me… makes me want to hurl!

We bought a digital clock that states the time when you push the button. Yeah, not such a good idea after all…but I ALWAYS know the time. Usually not the correct time though since they figured out those buttons too. Seriously, the best thing we got was a big clock like the ones they have in classrooms. Bubba at least gets the concept of “5 minutes” and the hour hand. That’s about as far as we got…

  4. Hmmmm—-so the clock actually “speaks” the time? Now I am remembering why we stopped having digital clocks in our house: Charlie became completely absorbed in changing the numbers and looking at them and had a hard time transitioning away.

  5. Best wishes tomorrow. Hope yours goes as well as ours did.

Love the clock. I will have to show it to my oldest!

Sam doesn’t understand the concept of any type of time. We have sand timers of different lengths all over the house. I have a cool stop light one that uses colors, sound and words, I have the timers that decrease with red. His best method is we use our two pointer fingers to show a distance of time in reference to how much time we have left for things. He likes that best. I can’t imagine when we have to start teaching him real time!!!

Best wishes and thoughts your way!
