Thankgiving countdown – get shopping

Wow, we’re almost to Thanksgiving. Do you even believe it? Over the next few days we’ll look at some last minute organizing tips to get your day into order.
If you haven’t started shopping, and you’re hosting a huge event, you really should hop to it. The stores are going to be packed come Wednesday night, and fighting over pie filling is not my idea of a good time; I’m hoping it’s not yours either.
- First make sure you Declutter Your Fridge for Thanksgiving. After this, you should have some available storage space.
- Make that shopping list. Break it down into perishable, non-perishable, and also, if you can divide it into food types, like you would with a master grocery list. Breaking it down means you can easily have someone help you shop – i.e. you grab dry goods, while your partner hits the frozen food section.
- If you’re overwhelmed at the thought of shopping, go out once tomorrow, and once on Tuesday.
- Get help – if people are coming to your house, send them part of the list. For example, anyone can bring drinks or whipped topping, there’s no prep involved.
- No idea what you’re making yet? You’re in a little bit of trouble; but there’s nothing a good list won’t cure. Following are some places you can find Thanksgiving dinner planning tools (recipes, menus, and ingredient lists) that can help you to get going.
