Yes. £1,000 would be what you would have to pay if you do not recycle. Of course, that is if you live in Borough of Brent in London. See, in this area, residents are now required to recycle any packaging that they have used. This has been a requirement just this August.
The council of the area had said that such has been mandated because they have seen the high volume of garbage in their landfill. With people helping out by recycling such, they could help lessen the growing number of trash. A spokesperson from the council of Brent had declared, “The landfill tax is going up by £8 a tonne every year. At the moment the total annual disposal cost is in excess of £7m. This will cost around £700,000 extra – or about 13% more – a year, if we do nothing.”
So if you live in the area, make sure that you do recycle. Or else you have to pay £1,000.
