It costs $6 for Nick’s haircuts down on Sunset Blvd. Closer to where we live in an artsy area the salon charges $50. I had a family friend volunteer try that place out for Nick a few years ago and he came back telling me it was fifty bucks.

I usually go to the college to get my haircut – they have one at a small mall and you get a lot of service for a small price.

I’ve had the same experience at the pricey places—-not for me (and I’m overdue myself for a trim)…..we’ll take Charlie to the same place as long as we can. It’s a basic barber shop with photos of the villages in Italy where the barbers are from.

Last year I tried a $50 dollar haircut and I left dissatisfied. They had flat screen tvs with ocean waves and dim lights in the shampoo room (you know when your head is in a bowl and your eyes are mostly closed?). The stylists’ area was all in the open and noisy. (but you could have a complimentary gourmet beverage) The stylist didn’t really cut my hair the way I asked (she protested my request).

Supercuts gets my family’s patronage. ($13/adult $12/child)
