The Barefoot Contessa Buttermilk Biscuits

Barefoot Contessa Buttermilk Biscuits Homemade biscuits is just something I don’t have much experience in. I’m also not sure I’m entirely keen to dig in and start baking biscuits from scratch all the time in order to perfect my recipes/technique.

I grew up enjoying Pillsbury biscuits, so when I saw that the Barefoot Contessa had teamed up with Stonewall Kitchen and come out with her own line of baked goods that cover cookies, cupcakes, scones and biscuits (of course), I just had to give them a try.

Well, I’m happy to report that the biscuits were a success. The only semi-appropriate cookie cutters in my cabinet were heart shaped…so they conveniently became Sunday Romance Biscuits.

I also liked the added touch of brushing them with butter before putting them in the oven in order to make them a little bit more decadent right from the start. If that little bit of melted butter makes them tasty enough that more butter after their done isn’t necessary, then isn’t this the healthier choice too?

Just a dollop of raspberry jam and these were a tasty treat for a lazy Sunday morning. I’m eager to try out the other products in the Barefoot Contessa pantry, especially the Foolproof Popover Mix…yet another type of baked good that I can’t see learning how to do from scratch anytime soon.

LOVE the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks! I didn’t realize she had mixes, tho. Good to know.

can I have honey instead? loooove warm biscuits with 100% pure honey. none of the artificial flavored one. your heart-shaped biscuits are so adorable :)
