To respond to Emily
The whole point of nutrigenomics is to determine why some people (say smokers) are able to maintain a specific lifestyle but not develop disease, while others who may lead very healthy lifestyles do.

Emily: Oh yes, you betcha! Lots of funding. Anything involving DNA is hot, remember? ;) And not to mention that anything involving diet is a big seller.

Kristen: I think some people do feel motivated by seeing so hard numbers from DNA testing so if people have some money to burn, why not? None of the nutrigenomic testing companies would dare to come out with anything definitively saying that X genetic variant is 100% involved in causing Y cancer UNLESS you eat lots of brussel sprouts. :P

Sigh, if only we had the evidence - I know, cynical me. Too bad the smokers who took beta-carotene got more lung cancer...

Any evidence that this stuff is being funded?
