The movie version of UK author Philip Pullman’s 1995 novel, Northern Lights (part of His Dark Materials trilogy) is scheduled for release on December 7, 2007. The movie, starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig (the new James Bond), is titled The Golden Compass (also the name of the book in the US).
The Catholic League has called for a boycott of the film due to themes in the book which were interpreted as anti-Catholic.
Have you read the novel? Do you plan to see the movie?

I have not read this book but will see the movie. It looks great.
I must also say that I feel that all these books and movies that people feel the need to boycott, or whatever, is just silly. If you don’t want to read/watch the story…DON’T. Ugh…I won’t get going on that subject.
In all this movie looks great.
Even though I’ve meant to for a long time, I still haven’t read the book. But I’m looking forward to the movie!
Well i watched the movie it was good!. I personally was surprised for the better.
I wasn’t expecting much from this movie and im thinking of reading the book..
The movies end comes too short it seems like its open for a sequel.
I haven’t seen the movie yet but I am not surprised that it lends itself to a sequel… the book itself was part of a series.
