The Guerilla Parenting Mail Box – Teen boys, the internet and one fat ulcer

Thanks to a reader, I’ve been inspired to create a new feature here on Guerilla Parenting formerly and also known as Supernanny Rules – we’ll call it The Guerilla Parenting Mail Box.

What will happen is readers, who don’t want to or can’t blog about their own family issues, can have an outlet to post, discuss and seek advice and support.

Sound fun? Entertaining? Reassuring? Enlightening? It should. Especially after you read the very first, inspirational story I’m about to share.

Feel free to chime in – this parent wants some help in coming up with an effective punishment.

I’ve recently discovered my teenage son (14) has been looking at porn on the internet. I found a file he tried to delete, but didn’t do a very good job of it. The file contained porn pictures and porn videos.

Aside from taking the computer away and not letting him have access to one at all, I’m not sure what else to do. I’m speechless, baffled and down right disgusted.

So – there you have if folks – the problem to solve and the crime to punish.

This is really a serious offense and one parent that could really use some advice.

Got any?

Do you have a parenting problem you’d like the readers of Guerilla Parenting to help solve? Drop us an email and we’ll get your anonymous problem posted for our readers to help solve.

I have just discovered porn printed from the computer in my sons room today. He is 14 and this is the 3rd offence in about a year. I had a block on his computer. I opened it up for a few hours a while back so he could download music and he printed a few photos. I understand that he is curious. But the photos are disgusting and not just nude photos. We have spoken to him and he appologises but he has broken my trust 2 times now and that has become a larger issue for me. I am shaking with anger and dissapointment.
I don’t know how to punish him.Loosing the computer is a given but should I take away a sporting competitio this weekend? He trains 16 hours a week and gets good grades. My husband said he had magazines under his bed and when his mom found them he just found a better hiding spot. I have always had a very good relationship with him and I dont want it to be distroyed over this.
