The journey
One thing I catch myself doing a lot is deferring things until the weekend or a holiday because the weekdays can be so wild when you don’t get to start the evening routine until after 6 pm.
I’m finding that it’s not just tasks that I defer, but, sometimes I feel like I’m deferring life. Much of the time, it’s not really a conscious decision, it just happens during a busy evening. I won’t start a conversation with my husband because we need to get everyone in bed, or, we might not make the cookies for dessert, knowing that we can catch up later.
At the risk of sounding totally cheesy, I am trying to get better about making each day special in a small way, rather than designating some time in the future as a “goal date” for fun and happiness.
I have no concrete plans as to how to go about it, but, as with most things, awareness is the first step, and, I hope to get better at remembering, “Life is journey, not a destination”.
Maybe I’ll work on it this weekend.

Oh, thank you so much for this post. The same thing happens at my house…let’s make it to the weekend and THEN we’ll do something. Not that I expect we’re going to start making any sort of big production during the week — but I love the idea about having something special each day. I will have to think about that.
