I really appreciate your answers. Where your allegory of Pandora's Box could have come off as trite - you pulled it off in a fresh take so to speak and it works well here.

I love that you point out that many of the things said to parents grieving the loss of a child, would absolutely not be said in the case of the loss of any other relative out of how ridiculous it would be! So few people in this world get this until they have been in similar situations and been subjected to the same tripe.

You guys are too kind! Thank you. I appreciated reading all of the bloggers in this month's tour - especially since there are so many perspectives to take with this story.

And Mel, if you know any publishers, feel free to send them my way ;-)

Wow. I'm just blown away by your response (I hesitate to call them "answers" because the questions are really too complex for that). Thank you for giving us the view from "both" sides...

Gabi--YOU should write a book. I want to read more (I know, talk about greedy--you're already giving us a blog).

I think the most interesting thing is how your brother's advice was enough to pause a fire. Seriously, I don't know what I would do because I don't think you can truly know unless you're in the situation.

I just can't imagine what I would do in your situation with the information you have that could lead you to birth parents. It's hard to know what you may find - will it be good or bad?

Thanks for your answers - it's good to hear answers from someone who was also adopted like the author.

I can't even comprehend how you decide what to do about those boxes? Do you let them "smolder", or pursue the unknown?

Thanks for sharing your perspective. As an adoptive mom, it helps me be a better mom (I hope).

I'm the same age as Homes (although not adopted), & I too feel much more familiar with the way adoption used to be than it is today. In general, I think openness is the best policy, but as you noted, it also raises questions too. Thanks for some really interesting answers!
