The Movie Waitress

There is a small movie out there that is getting a lot of attention…the good kind.
The late Adrienne Shelly wrote an intelligent and humorous script, entitled “Waitress”. It stars Keri Russell, from the TV show “Felicity”. Co-Stars include Nathan Fillion, Cheryl Hines, Andy Griffith and Adrienne Shelly.
The movie is about a diner waitress who finds herself with a horrible husband, a pathetic marriage and pregnant. Her one claim to fame is that she makes the best pies around. Her pies include the “Falling in Love Chocolate Mousse Pie” and “Baby Screaming its Head Off in the Middle of the Night and Ruining My Life Pie”. It is reminiscent of great movies such as Like Water for Chocolate and Chocolate, who use food as a metaphor for our emotions and life events. Food is a metaphor we all understand.
