Chronicled by Time Magazine, the city of Philadelphia has sponsored a public art project which encourages local artists to create works utilizing the city’s architecture. It has beautified the City of Brotherly Love and created an enduring cultural legacy. Take a look at the online photo essay!

  1. Aren’t those fantastic! I always thought it’d be neat to put a mural on the side of my house, something my husband doesn’t agree with. I remember an article with a picture of a house with a pretty good mural and the neighbors were suing to have the guy remove it! My sister lives in Oceanside and there are several sea life murals on buildings there. There are plenty of poorly designed buildings that could be much improved with a mural.

We had a local artist do our train depot several years ago, and it was really well received. Kind of surprising for a small town that no one (that I know of) kicked up a fuss. It’s a great mural, too :-)
