The new virtual office
At Friday Playdate, Susan describes the new virtual office.
Her kids are on Spring Break, yet she must soldier on with her job:
The rest of the day — the zoo and lunch and the playing — were interspersed with a constant checking of e-mail (thank you Jesus and Steve Jobs for the iPhone). In line at the grocery, I answered one query about my job title and another about where I went to college while the boys put the groceries on the counter so we could check out.
I made work-related phone calls while they played outside. At one point, Charlie came in to go potty and I had to tell a colleague that I would need to call her back because we were having a little bit of a poop incident.
Working from home at an actual desk is so Web 1.5.

I am in a way sad to say, this is why I continue to work from an office more than from home. Life just seemed to get in the way too much at home.
It is very hard to work from home, especially with little kids around. There’s plenty of late night blogging going on around here.
I agree. I get much more accomplished at the office. Sad but true.
