The next best thing to running to work

If I lived within a few miles of work, I would probably try to jog to work a few times a week.  I do not.  We signed up at a local gym a few months back to try and encourage us to stay in shape.  It is around $30 for both of us combined and they have a gym which makes it easy to stop in after work and before dinner.

I rest take a little over a week off with my recent illness, but finally made it back yesterday.  In the recent past, I have been spending most of my time either on the bikes or lifting weights, neither of which is really my strength.  I like to run.  I am slow right now and have to take walk breaks, but I still love to run.

Yesterday, I ran for 60 minutes at 6.0 mph with 0 degree incline.  I took a total of 14 minutes of walk breaks at 3.4 miles per hour.  I currently weigh around 218 pounds.  The LifeStyle treadmill told me that during those 5.5+ miles I burned 900+ calories.  I really love running.

But, there are more important benefits than just the calories.  I had more energy at work today.  And, I still had energy when I got home.

If you are starting to drag at work or, even worse, at home with the kids after work, try scheduling some aggressive aerobic activity to help recharge yourself.

[...] Thankfully, the answer is no to the yoga myth because My Blog on Beauty has this very informative post on the anuloma viloma pranayama breathing asana, which is not at all as difficult as pronouncing its name. Jogging is how many other parents to reduce stress, lose weight and keep healthy. I am pleased to report that My Name is Mommy who inspired this carnival got herself out pounding pavement too.
