The return of the heirlooms
My dad heard from his step-mother’s family today.
It looks like she left instructions, afterall, for my father to get back the family heirlooms. I wish my uncle had lived long enough to know this, as some of these items were very, very important to him, and, he worked many years to try to get them back.
It’s great news for my dad, but, I’m not sure how my house will take it. You see, my dad “getting them back” translates into me putting this stuff into my house. I’m delighted to do it, but, there’s some big ol’ farmhouse furniture headed my way.
Since I’m an only child, I don’t have anyone to fight about it with, but, I also don’t have anyone to split it with, either.

You ae preaching to the choir here! Not only did I get the things from my father when he died last year, I had gotten things from he and my mother years ago before she died. My aunt and uncle had no children – except for me – so I got their things also. Last year my mother in law decided it was time to divest her things. Thank God my husband is one of three. My house is still reeling. Good luck!
We are going through this as well as my FIL prepares to finally sell his house and move in with his significant other. He just sent my husband an e-mail outlining what he has boxed up for us and that he will be bringing it to us to do with what we want. Couple that with adding all the stuff for the baby I am afraid our house will explode with the influx of new stuff.
If it’s really cool, I’ll take it. Hee. Really, I’m glad it’s coming back to where it belongs.
