I haven’t spoken of any other 12 Step programs for an awfully long time. It’s about time I did…

“If you want what we have to offer, and are willing to make the effort to get it, then you are ready to take certain steps. These are the principles that made our recovery possible.

1. We admitted that we were powerless over our addiction, that our lives had become unmanageable.

2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

3. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

5. We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

6. We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

7. We humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

8. We made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. We made direct amends to such people wherever possible except when to do so would injure them or others.

10. We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

11. We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to addicts, and to practise these principles in all our affairs.”

Yes, they are identical save a small bit…

I was very much into pain killers for years and then eventually became a heroin addict. I was powerless. I been through it all arrests and rehab and NA gave me the power to fight my demons and live the life I was entitled to. Now I just live my day one day at a time and cope with my emotions in new ways. I’ve never been so alive.

did you ever think that suboxone is the same thing as pain killers? I was addicted to pain killers. i worked at a rehab and was still doing them. well, four years later. i am at the same rehab, but as a patient this time. i have learned that suboxone is the way for the goverment to get your money instead of the streets. suboxone is 10 times stronger than pills. you realy need to go to a detox center and get off of them. you will never get over the pill sickness if you dont. i know. i wasnt perscribed them but i tried them to get off of pills and they had me more addicted to them then pills did. it scared me and i just quit taking them and got on pills to get off of the suboxone then went to a detox center(where i used to work) and got off of the pills. i just got home yesterday from rehab. and i feel great. keep going to the na meetings and keep strong. the na mettings help so much! i cant wait to go tonight! the na meetings is what realy help show me that i needed help. and i went and got it. it you have to go and get a mental hygeine warent to get into a rehab, do it. it will save your life! if you need anything else just let me know. i can let you know of some awesome books to read too!

I have been clean for two years. The 12 steps, 12 Traditions, 12 Concepts, my sponsor, the literature, service work, my sponsees & the God of my understanding is the foundation of my life (God, Self, Society & Service). I have come along way in the last two years. I have a good relationship with myself, God, my sponsor, my sponsees, my wife, coworkers, friends & others. I have a sucessful business that I have grown. I have a great life today & am full of gratitude. Thank you NA & God. More will be revealed.

  12. Charlie says:

I used to be forced to go to NA and AA meetings because some stupid fucks thought I was addicted to marijuana. Those couple of months I was going to the meetings might have been the worst time of my life. But now I smoke dank every damn day. Ya can’t beat me!
