Today, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden took time out to talk about what fatherhood is and to encourage men to be responsible fathers. Obama has put together several events that encourage men to be great dads and has issued a Presidential Proclamation about Father’s Day.

When you think about all of the problems he has to deal with, the fact that he spent the whole afternoon promoting responsible parenthood shows how concerned he is about having dads be there for their kids. In addition, the President wants to continue encouraging young men to realize the importance of fatherhood with forums throughout the United States throughout the summer months.

I couldn’t agree more, too many father’s walk away from their parental responsibilty, dump the responsiblity of caring for the children onto other members of the family yet call themselves “The Biological father”. When these neglectful dads are more or less just donors. In essence it is who raised the child or children, thats the parent. I am fortunate to be married to a wonderful man who is also a wonderful father to our son. As well as a father figure to his neice and nephews. Quality time with your child/children is a reflection of who you really are inside and the genuine love one has for a child. Putting that child first before yourself. That is what makes a parent a real parent.
