The “Young Invincibles” – YANHIs

Ok, so I made up “YANHI” (Young Adults No Health Insurance) but I didn’t make up the Young Invincibles. This is the term that is being used for young adults, up to 29, in the United States who don’t have health insurance through work and they don’t have any of their own. At a rate of about 400 to 500 dollars per month, they feel they can’t afford it and they hope they’re invincible enough not to need it.

Unfortunately, they’re not invincible though. The 13.2 million Young Invincibles make up 30% of the country’s uninsured, but, they make up the highest number of people who end up in the emergency rooms with injury related problems.
