There But…

For The Grace Of God Go I

Miracles do happen, thank God! One of them has been that I believe my God has forgiven me because I’ve made me and my sins open to Him as a result of the Twelve Steps. That is my belief.

I read stories like JJ has related and I surely understand. I also certainly understand how angry folks like us were at me!

Today, I’m not the person I was nor are so many of us fortunate enough to have been blessed and who continue to say “yes” to recovery by God’s Grace.

If the young person who caused so much harm in JJ’s story is anything like you and I, I need to remember that there “But For The Grace Of God Go I.” My God has forgiven me. If that young person has now had a moment of clarity, as we have had, perhaps they will open themselves up to their Higher Powers’ forgiveness also.

If this has not been their moment of clarity, I would pray that they have it soon, before they kill someone else or themselves, but I’m going to continue to remember that it could just as easily been me. I am blessed. I need to forgive them!

The spiritual life is not a theory. We have to live it.

Besides (pg. 66);

“If we were to live, we had to be free of anger. The grouch and the brainstorm were not for us. They may be the dubious luxury of normal men, but for alcoholics these things are poison.”
