There Is A New Concept Of Fat In Town

Five foot four and one hundred and fifteen pounds, in my dreams. No wait, I think I had those measurements in… fifth grade! I would think that this individual would be in good health and in no way would I classify them as “fat”.
Of course, you can already see where this is going. Now we must redefine our concept of “fat” and examine not only BMI, but muscle to fat ratio.
In this particular case, the young ladies body was 24% fat, not the 18% it should have been. Even with normal waist circumference and BMI, your insides will accumulate fat with excess eating and poor exercise.
“It turns out the fat around the liver and various organs actually changes your metabolism and makes them more susceptible to diabetes, heart disease and breast cancer,” Dr. Heber said.
So how do we get rid of this unwanted internal fat? Diet alone is not the answer. Dr.Heber says, “In order to mobilize the fat, you have to build the muscle which changes your metabolism and then you’ll get rid of the fat”.
Dr. Heber recommends eating more protein, limiting fat and carbs, and weight training at least three times a week.
So come on ya’all, get yourselves moving! You have to start somewhere, even a 30 minute walk is better than nothing. What do you think is the best way to introduce cardio into your daily regimen? Do you just jump in full blast, or take it slow?
