There’s A Girl in Every Airport

Sometimes, you would meet and fall for a guy. Charming, sophisticated, romantic and seemingly interested to see you as much as he can. As soon as you’ve made contact, he’d woo and court you everyday until you’ve succumbed into believing that this is one of those times, a whirlwind romance. He has successfully seduced you. And then he tells you he’ll be leaving for a business trip that’ll take him away for several months.

Do you hear from him? After a week or two, perhaps. But then after a few awkward excuses, he becomes scarcely available when you call him or schedule a chat or, worse, there’d be silence.

Another thing that can happen is he breaks it off before he leaves, reasoning that he can’t do long distance relationships.

A thought would then come to mind that maybe it wasn’t special at all. It wasn’t real. You’ve been duped. Harsh as that may sound, it just may be the truth.

As time passes, you’ll meet someone who know “of” the guy. Apparently, the guy has this reputation for being the charming ladies’ man. There’s truth that he does travel. He’s been around (in every sense). And you’re simply just one girl in one of the places he’s been in. Satisfying a need. Out of convenience. Sad but true.

Sometimes, it’s good to learn from experience. Painful but enlightening. Sometimes, you’d feel it’s so intrusive and unnecessary. Audacity of the men. Sometimes, we just let ourselves be vulnerable. Grabbing the opportunity without second thought.

But sometimes if we think too much about this, looking hard for someone to blame for the hurt, just makes things worse.
