Thinking Back on Marbles

They seemed to be a harmless toy and I don’t remember a kid not having them when I was growing up, but I would think twice about it now. Everything seems to find its way into mouths of young children and chances are, marbles will too. And what if they don’t tell you? Britt once swallowed a penny and the minute she told me, I took her straight to the doctor and yes, he told me that there could be a problem. Apparently items can get caught in the intestines and if you don’t know that something is in/down there, you will take longer to make a correct diagnosis. And sometimes, it can be too late.

I thought about this right after I read Hsien’s article “Magnets Can Kill”. What a tragic story.
