This Is Why You Should Wear Sunblock

I had to cut grass today and I have almost an acre to cut. I don’t have a ride on mower. I have a push mower. When I say push mower I mean your conventional small engine walk behind push mower. I’m not Amish you know. Anyway I honestly didn’t think it was going to be this bad. Usually I get a little burn but I was out there quite some time and I really couldn’t feel it.
With skin cancer these days, this really isn’t healthy. I did have some sunblock on but it was only SPF 4. Yeah…I’m a frickin genius, right? It doesn’t feel too bad now but I know I’m going to feel it later and the itching from it drying and peeling in the next week or so is going to drive me nuts. Bottom line, wear sunblock (stronger than SPF4) if you plan on being doing yard work or if you’re going to be out in the sun in general. It looks like I’m wearing a white tank top when I take my shirt off.

Yowch!! Well, look on the bright side - I’m guessing you got your daily allowance of Vitamin D.
I think I’m probably good for a week.
SPF only refers to how long you can go without reapplying the sunblock. I know that you might know that, and the article makes sense either way, but I just thought I’d clarify for others and in case you fell for the common misconception that SPF is how strong it is.
nope I didn’t know that and I do appreciate it.
Scott,
you at least wore a hat, right????
I bet right now, air is your enemy. I hope its not as sore as it looks.
I wore a hat for most of the time. But I have a pretty thick head of hair so doesn’t get much exposure and I was wearing aviator style sunglasses. It’s a bit sore this morning but not too bad…when it starts drying and flaking is when it will hurt the most.
