This week’s inspiration is focused on our generous giveaway sponsor, Scrappy Jo.
It’s not everyday that people figure out what they want to do the rest of their lives.
It’s not everyday that people realise their dream.
Scrappy Jo is one of those few lucky people who realised what they wanted to do and more than that, she’s one of those lucky few who did something about it
Jo tells us how she got started with Scrappy Jo:
My name is Jo. It’s not short for anything, it’s just Jo. My oldest friends and my family call me Jodi. I was born in Indianapolis, IN. I lived in New York for 3 years and in Salt Lake City, UT for 3 months, but there is no place like home.
While in New York, I ran a very small ceramic shop out of my basement. After moving back to Indianapolis, I continued my crafty side by placing some of my soft line creations (crochet & needlepoint work) in a couple of consignment shops.
While I kept up my love for crafts through the years, it wasn’t until two years ago that I realized my true passion. I love scrapbooking. More specifically, I love making cards. They are like mini-scrapbook pages to me. I like several paperlines, so what I look for when picking papers to work with is the quality, color and patterns. Although I prefer earthtone paper colors, my favorite color combination is red/black/white. Bazzill is my cardstock of choice. Cat’s Eyes and Stickles are my all time favorite finishing touches when I make cards. Pastels and bright colors are not amoung my colors to work with. However, I love all colors when they are muted.
One year into exploring various scrapbooking techniques and learning about the industry, my employer decided to close our office. An option was presented to stay with the company and work at home or take a severance package. After spending 30 years in the Insurance industry, I decided to take the money and run.
My daughter, Kelly, caught the scrapbook fever at the same time I did. So with my pending lay-off, she came upon an established online scrapbooking store that was for sale. With my daughter’s help, we jumped in with all four feet.

And so,
Scrappy Jo’s Store was born.
Our goal at
Scrappy Jo’s Store is to provide fresh quality products at affordable prices while delivering top notch customer service. We have an exceptionally talented Creative Team that supports our store, forum and blog. They are not afraid of stepping out of the box and their creations are phenomenal. To round things out, our forum is made up of the most caring and supportive group of ladies you could ever meet online.
Scrappy Jo’s Store is a work in progress. We are coming upon our 1st year in business and plans are well underway to make our store among the top online places to shop.
Running the
Scrappy Jo Store is a good deal of work, but I love every minute of it. It took me many years to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up, now I know. . . . I am “
Scrappy Jo“!!
It is so good to hear my long time friend is doing what she loves! Distance may separate us physically but not our hearts. Jo has so many talents and is always happy to help others. Wish Jo the best on her endeavor. I’ve already referred my daughter-in-law who is a scrapbook expert.
I am so glad Jo and Kelly decide to buy thier online story! I so love to shop there because it is kind of sort of local fo me.
