Tighten Knobs and Handles

Have you ever picked up a pot by the handle, only to discover the handle was so loose that the pot could spin around when you lifted it? I did. Luckily, the pot was empty instead of filled with some boiling hot food. I also have gone to pull open drawers, only to stand there staring at the closed drawer with the handle in my hand. So, for this Tidy Tuesday’s task, I went on a knob and handle tightening expedition.
I was surprised at how many kitchen cupboards and drawers had loose knobs and I found some loose ones in the bathrooms and family room, too. I think I must have a knob fiddler in the family. Is that something kittens do while people sleep? I’ll have to see if they all are loose in a few weeks now that the kittens are living with my grandma due to allergies. (People allergies, but I swear Sophie, the Scottie, was allergic to them, too. She developed a mysterious allergy to something and is so much better now!)
While drawer knobs that are loose are usually just annoying, pot handles can be dangerous. Adjust the handle so it is in the right position and then use a screwdriver to tighten the screw. If you can’t tighten your handles so that they don’t loosen up again, you may want to replace the pots or look into ways to keep the handles more secure, such as using a washer between the handle and the pot.
