Time for Spring

Despite the fact that it SNOWED both days this weekend (please don’t ask me to talk about it, I only cry and become incoherent), this week’s forecast sounds more Spring-like with reasonable temperatures and sunshine. In celebration (and preparation), yesterday my husband pumped up the air in our five-year-old’s bicycle tires and she dug out her helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads. Today when she comes home from school she’ll race inside to change her clothes and then we’ll take her for a bike ride around the neighborhood. She’s been waiting all Winter to get her bike out again.
Meanwhile, the little one is outraged that she can’t ride the bike so I’m going to get the tricycle out and wipe it down (it’s been a few years since it’s been used) and see what she does with it. She loves to copy her big sister, so I’m thinking she might catch on to the concept of pedaling pretty easily.
I also want to go out on our balcony next weekend and start cleaning it off and preparing it for some plants and flowers (I’ve never planted anything out there and this year I’m determined to get some flowers and tomatoes out there!) because they both like hanging out there but right now it’s still too disgusting from what Winter threw at us. It will be perfect if we can sit out there and enjoy a bit of late afternoon fresh air while I have some supper simmering on the stove.
What is your family doing to prepare for Spring?
