Tip of the Day #18

As you do daily tasks throughout the week, time it to see how long it actually takes you to do this. When you go grocery shopping, see how long it takes you to get there, shop, drive back home and unload all the groceries.
Or, when you are at the office, time how long it takes you to answer emails and return calls.
Seeing how long it actually takes you to do your daily tasks will help you to schedule yourself better. You may be surprised at how long it actually takes you to do something. It may be way longer than you thought or shorter.
I used to think it only took me about an hour to grocery shop. When I actually stopped and timed myself, my big trips took longer. This helps me tremendously now. I can tell my husband, who’s watching the kids, exactly how long I’ll be gone.
Also, since I work from home, I can tell my kids that I need 15 minutes to do this certain thing and then we can go to the pool. This way, they know what to expect. Of course when they really want to go swimming, 15 minutes can seem like an eternity!

Hey, your poll worked! Yea you; now you can find out all about the world’s most tidy people. I like this idea and I actually try it when I’m writing; like this blog will take so long and the next will take so long. But I always forget when I started timing. I need to get a timer that buzzes. Or maybe one of the cool online timers.
Thanks Jennifer. Thanks for reminding me in the forum. What good is a darn poll if you can’t even vote!
