tip of the day – dealing with a too-short cutting table

Okay, this is the most obvious solution to my problems… and I should have come up with it years ago.
Oh well, better late than never!
Seeing as a new cutting table isn’t in the budget (and I have very limited studio space) and my current cutting table is short enough that I get back spasms when I use it – it was time for some creativity…
I took two large, matching plastic storage boxes, approximately eight inches high and placed them on top of my cutting table. The boxes covered the top of the table – and then I laid my cutting mat on top. The cutting mat is stiff enough that it sits nicely on top of the boxes. I don’t know if it would be sturdy enough to use a rotary cutter, but it works great for cutting out clothing (as the three pairs of capris I cut out this afternoon prove)
Presto! Instant taller cutting table – which is much more comfortable to use now
