Tips for Finding an After School Babysitter
With many schools starting back over the next few weeks, some parents are strapped with the burden of finding an after school babysitter.
Here are a few tips to help make that task a bit easier:
1. Check local colleges or high school – many students will be looking for ways to make extra money and by going to the colleges or high schools, you can easily check a few references with teachers.
2. Check with a hairdresser – If you’ve ever kept your ears open in the beauty salon, you’ll know these women know more about what’s going on in town then the local paper. They also know lots of women with kids who are of babysitting age.
3. Check with neighbors – Find out if they might be able to recommend a sitter or at least provide names and numbers of where you might look.
4. Teachers – some teachers actually take care of kids after school and provide a bit of tutoring on the side. It’s a great way to kill two birds with one stone.
5. Check area churches – Many times you can find teenagers or adult caregivers within a church congregation.
6. Check with your childs school – many schools or local libraries offer latch key type programs.
