Cordless LED Candle, Brass A friend mentioned that Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away!  Then there will be the Christmas holidays.  As these busy times approach, caregiving often becomes more stressful. In browsing around today, I discovered Holiday Tips for Persons [and their caregivers] With Dementia.

Also mentioned here are suggestions for preparing family members who haven’t seen the Alzheimer’s patient for some time.

Sit down and have a cup of tea…that often was a pleasure I enjoyed with Mother.  It relaxed both of us and brought back memories.                                            Do you have tips you can share that have worked  to decrease stress for you, your family member, and those who may visit?

Mary Emma, this is helpful. Thanks. I know the hardest part about holidays with my grandmother was that those times of the year, much more so than others, she would mistake my mother (her daughter) for her mother. That was as close as the recognition got.

  2. Thank you for visiting Alzheimer’s Notes, Gabrielle, and for sharing your thoughts. I realize I should do a series on helping people cope through the holiday season when they have an Alzheimer’s family member. Those can be difficult times and there can be moments of joy, too. I’m also inviting my readers to share with me.
