Tis the season

Once upon a time I was a bit of a Scrooge – I wasn’t cheap, it was more that I was Scrooge-like in my feelings towards the decorations and music. It used to drive me insane to see holiday decorations and lights in November and hearing “Jingle Bell Rock” in the stores a month or more before Christmas used to just about give me a stroke.

Then I had kids.

It has nearly killed me to wait this long to NOT decorate. The only reason I waited is because my oldest has ped days on Thursday and Friday this week so I thought it would be nice to decorate together then and take our time rather than trying to cram it all in after school. Meanwhile I’ve been humming along to the Christmas muzak in stores and singing carols while doing dishes (I’m physically incapable of washing dishes without singing, don’t ask). I have three flyers for different stores with gift ideas for the kids circled.

I am so excited about the thought of getting all our stuff out tomorrow and putting up the tree, the lights, the wreaths.

I’m not sure who I am. I’ve been like this for five years now but I was Scrooge for longer than that so I’m still not used to this Festive Me. But I like it.

Are you feeling the cheer of whichever holiday you celebrate or are you wishing it was possible to hibernate until it’s over?
