“Too many” kids result of obsessive syndrome?

As the news continues to focus on Nadya Suleman, people are strongly debating the issue. Right or wrong to have so many kids? Is there a right or wrong? If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Nadya Suleman is the California mom of 6 young children who just delivered octuplets – after expecting sextuplets. Now she as 14 children. Of the older ones, it’s reported that one has autism. As for the babies, it’s being said that all are doing well, which – to me – is the most important issue.
The latest news to come out looks into whether this extra large family, done in such a fashion is really a mental disorder or an obsessive compulsive disorder that is causing her to want to have so many babies.
Rather than rewriting what’s been in the news, here’s a link to a story that discusses it: Grandma: Octuplets mom obsessed with having kids.

While it is up to each of us as individuals to decide on how many or how few children we have, it was totally irresponsible for the physician to implant so many embryos at once. Even if some of the babies turn out to be identical, obviously more then the usual 2-3 were initially implanted. It is going to be near impossible for a single mother to care for 14 children on her own without using public assistance. Just because she wanted to have an enormous family does not mean that she should have had it.
