Over the summer kids looked up a ton of things online, but the terms may and may not surprise you. Sit back moms and dads, after reading

this list you may want to check those parent control settings. Symntac has pulled together all those search terms the kids use and put them together to find a trend, here are the results.

Top 10 Search Terms:

1. YouTube
2. Google
3. Facebook
4. Sex
5. MySpace
6. Porn
7. Yahoo
8. Michael Jackson
9. Fred
10. eBay

To read the entire list of 100 top searches kids make go here.  This was just for the summer too, other names such as Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, games, Hannah Montana, Lady Gaga and of course Twilight were in the top 50. The word sex or other words related to it were all over this list. Boobs was #28, Sex being #4, Pussy #72 (guessing not Pussy Cats either), Girls was #81 while Naked girls was #86, Naked #88 and Nude being #89 which tied with playboy.  My guess is parents were unaware of what their children were actually searching and that now that school is coming back we’ll see a different trend very soon. What do you think? Was your child by themselves with the computer over the summer?

One thing that would have been useful in this information would have been the median ages of the kids. An interest in sex is very normal for the teenage set, and as parents it is our jobs to make sure that we inform our children and monitor their internet, television, etc. use at the same time so that we can ensure that we are raising children with integrity.

To be honest, the lists don’t really alarm me all that much. They are filled with benign terms like “facebook” and “webkinz”…because there is a search for “boobs” in that list doesn’t seem all that odd.

To be honest I wasn’t shocked by this either and yes it would’ve helped had they put the ages. I mean if this was for a 5 year old it would be a bit frightening. But teens, it is to be expected, even if we wish it wasn’t.

    Fred?

  4. Ant10392 says:

Fred is a youtube user who has created video’s with an extremely high and fast voice and that has recently been knocked off the No.1 spot on the youtube subscribers.

Ok and the point to all of this? Kids and teenagers aren’t the only ones to use the internet, this article is somewhat pointless.

    1. YouTube – A place where EVERYONE goes to and is owned by google, a company that is unbelievable sensitive to even mild content.
    2. Google – Google searching google? Thats a big worry! Lets all shutter at the fact that kids and teens are curious about what would happen if they google “Google”! Yup the rumors are true here, google will self destruct if you google “google” (as seen on MOST comedy shows).
    3. Facebook – A place where you MUST know someone who is on there to even make it useful. Bit like myspace but way more secure.
    4. Sex – The million dollar question for everyone. They don’t need to search it cause their friends can just SHOW them on paper! Check school libraries, they have books on What it is!
    5. MySpace – The biggest internet scam of them all, the bane of all stupid parents, the biggest scare of them all, myspace. Drop this sad news, it is so darn old and totally pointless to mention.
    6. Porn – Did you know that parents also search for this, even married ones? Oh no, I’ll blame my kid instead. Nice parenting!
    7. Yahoo – Email, no different than regular mail. Just more private for those that have parents and annoying friends/family that enjoy reading their mail and invading their privacy. Oh and its MUCH quicker too. Get the guns, we are gonna shoot those Yahoo! Predators!
    8. Michael Jackson – A dead guy. Someone that we all were SHOCKED to hear had died, but in truth, everyone was waiting for.
    9. Fred – a random kid on youtube, SHUT HIM DOWN! He is a bad influence on all the good kids!
    10. eBay – Buy/sell stuff. One problem, need a credit card or bank account to use it.

The point in hiding this stuff from your kids and teens? pretty pointless in todays generation. Why? They are modern, parents are old and stuck on the past. Kids get smarter than parents EVERY single day!
Spying on your kid’s privacy just tells the rest of the world that you do not trust your own kids, face it, they are gonna find out regardless of what you do. They can find it all at:
Home, School, Library, Friends, Networking places, The mall, Anywhere!
Telling them no, is pointless. Getting into their stuff just because you are “Concerned” doesn’t show love or protection, it just tells them that you don’t trust no matter what they do, and to keep become rebellious just like you did when you were kids!

99% of the entire world use the internet, all of them being: Kids, Teens, and adults. If a mother finds bad material on the internet, she will immediately think “The kids did it” but never think to blame daddy. And don’t go telling me I don’t know any better, for I have seen enough “Parent intervention” to last a life time, and it ISN’T working! It’s just making things worse!
Sure, intervene in predator and serious drug problems, but the rest of it you all should just give up on. It’ll never stop, things will never get better, they’ll just stay the way they are, “kids and teens continue to use the internet regardless of what parents tell them”.

The next greatest thing for all the world to know would be….
“Parents FINALLY learn to trust their kids! The war of Parent vs Kids is over!”

Be a great parent, restrict them to REAL dangers, but don’t restrict them from things they know how to handle when you in truth, don’t have a clue how to handle. Respect them and you will recieve in kind. Show no respect, and you’ll be raising them to hate you and not care what you say.
Be smart, cause kids and teens CAN outsmart you.
