Top Labor Day Movies

While you’re relaxing and enjoying a day of no work this Labor Day, why not spend a little time kicking back with a good movie? Here are a few that seem to fit the holiday:

Grapes of Wrath – This movie rendition of Steinbeck’s classic is, if possible, even more depressing, so you probably don’t want to play it if you’re feeling blue. I don’t recommend it for youngsters, either. However, it is a pretty honest look at labor conditions for migrant workers during the 1930s and the book is a classic for good reason.

9 to 5 – Country lovers won’t want to miss this cute, but corny, movie about a woman starting a career after her divorce. Dolly Parton stars in the movie.

The Devil Wears Prada – This one is worth watching just for the clothes! Plus, you’re bound to think your boss is not so bad after seeing Miranda in action.

The Nanny Diaries – More bad bosses. Not my favorite, but not the worst, either.

Didn’t they make a family movie to watch on Labor Day? They had to, right? Just one? How about:

Dr. Dolittle – Talking animals and silly stunts make this one appealing to kids and adults. I actually prefer the classic, but the kids seem to prefer the new version.

Ratatouille – Definitely kid friendly, but fairly entertaining for grown ups, too. Restaurant personnel will probably see some of their coworkers in the characters in this animated film.
