From travel guides to car rentals, you can save money on your next trip. Full price should be a thing of the past.

How about buying just one chapter or two of a Lonely Planet travel guide instead of the whole thing? Jennifer at Traveling the Green Way explains how this is possible via Lonely Planet’s Pick & Mix Digital Files. You can save money and trees at the same time!

Car Rental Deal
If you’re nervous about booking through Priceline for your hotel, try it out first with a car rental. Fodor’s editor Doug Stallings said very recently in an online article that “Priceline is the best thing going if you want to get a cheap rental car in the U.S.”

FYI: Soon, I’ll experience Priceline for myself with a hotel I booked and paid for through the “Name Your Own Price” feature. I’ll let you know how it goes in a review!

Hotel Deal
If you’re traveling weekends between September 25 and December 13 this year, then consider Marriott. Many participating Marriott hotels around the world will offer 20% off your room rate for stays Thursday through Sunday. You have to book by September 24 using promo code F5X. See marriott.com for full details.

Hotels participating include Marriott Hotels & Resorts, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, TownePlace Suites by Marriott.

If you take advantage of any of these deals, please leave a comment to let others know about your experience. Happy travels.

  1. got deals says:

I’ve used priceline a few times for airfare and I’ve gotten great deals. I’ll have to give them a go for car rentals too.

  2. Got Deals, hello. One reason I chose Priceline is that I read more satisfied reviews about them than Hotwire. Plus, that name your own price thing is addictive, I must say.
