For that price it better be big enough to live in because you won’t be able to send them to college. Bornrich.org notes that celebrities are jumping on the treehouse bandwagon but don’t want to mess their hands building one. The solution items like this Scallywag Sloop Pirate themed treehouse.
Bornrich has another solution if pirates aren’t your kids thing…
At about $20,600, this treehouse makes the pirate treehouse look like a steal. Yikes!
Daniels Wood Land, Inc, builder of both of the treehouse wonderlands above, build all kinds of custom treehouses. In fact they claim to be able to create anything you can dream up for the kiddos. I think I believe them. Check this out.
I just wonder how high in a tree this Redneck Retreat could go?
Now, these might fit the kids. But for the adults, maybe this. With it’s fully loaded kitchen and spacious interior you could easily live here.
This treehouse called True Style, is from a UK based building company, High Life Treehouses. This company is very cool; they plant three trees for each building project they complete. And they build these items called Hobbit Holes for kids that you have to see. In fact, after seeing the oh so neat Hobbit Holes, I’m thinking a law should be put into place that says no child should grow up without one. Go see!
I think that with some imagination and paint you could actually build your kids their own treehouse for a lot less money that they’d love just as much. What do you think?

Those treehouses for kids are so cool! My sons would love the one like a truck! I always check Craigslist for high ticket items like play houses, swing sets, etc. before I pay full price, but something tells me I won’t be seeing one of these on Craigslist anytime soon. And since there is no way I’m taking out a second mortgage to buy one of these brand new, looks like my kids won’t be getting one anytime soon.
The funny thing is, the novelty of one of these fancy/pricey treehouses would probably wear off quickly and it would sit unused. On the other hand, give them a big cardboard box, and they think it’s the coolest thing ever! I like the cost of cardboard boxes a lot more.
I like the cost of cardboard too! I showed these to Cedar today and he loved them. His favorite was the middle one — I thought it would have been the truck one. I told him how much they were and he said, “You should start saving your money” RIGHT. He doesn’t totally get money yet but he knows a big number when he hears it — so when I said 20,000 he was impressed.
I actually have been working on an article about old school toys that are fun for kids — cardboard and the like. Kids never get tired of pretend. The treehouse; maybe.
If any of these responders above actually tried to build such things, They would realize what a bargain these works are. Do the math: 6 months intense highly skilled labor @ 1920 hr – materials say $6000.00 and the maker is charging $7.29/hr for that $20,000. I would feel sorry for the highly talented and skilled maker. Ask yourselves what is more important, a new car @ $40K or a one of a kind landmark the entire block will enjoy increasing your property value and outlasting that car for only $20K.
