Trichotillomania. Of Greek origin: trich (hair) + tillein (to pull) + and maniaor (frenzy; morbid desire). Put it all together and you get the compulsive urge to pull one’s hair out.
It’s estimated the 1% – 5% of the world’s population suffers from “trich,” and approximately 2/3s of those who suffer are women. Trichotillomania is classified as an impulse control disorder and may be related to obsessive-compulsive disorder. Both medication as well as therapy have been successful in controlling the disorder.

I do have trich. but im not bald. Really. I just pull out my eyelashes
I thought I was the only one who did this because when I was 9ish I started picking my hair
I started picking my hair when I was 9 on my head and when I would get done picking a hair I would brush it over my lips (I don’t know why) and then people would make fun of me and say that I eat my own hair….. I also have done this in the pubic area, eyebrows, eyelashes, and right now it is on the lower inside of my leg near my ankle and it goes 4 inches up my leg. I am so happy to know I am not the only one and I have finally figured out why I always brushed the hair bulb on my lips. good article!
Same here. :/
But it is horrible to go through… I hate it. >_<
I have this. It’s serious. The only time I was ever “Pull-Free” (as “remissions” are known) was when I was prescribed cannabis. I had to stop using it because I was pregnant. And tore out my hair with gusto.
