Trouble Expressing Love

Since having such wonderful contributions and success with previous “What Would You Do?” posts, I thought this might be one for everyone to chime in on as well.

A close friend of mine has been dating a guy for nearly two years. Both are single parents – she has two, he has one that’s a few years older then hers so there’s not a tremendous age difference at all.

The problem is, either the guy is just keeping her around for sex or he’s totally lame at expressing his feelings.

  • Gifts consist of items that are nowhere near personal in nature.
  • Cards are humorous and signed with his name only.
  • He’s never told her he loves her, is in deep like or anything that indicates he has any emotional attachment to her whatsoever.
  • She’s met his parents but only been around them a couple of times, briefly.
  • She’s met his son once and the son was kind of rude to her.
  • She’s told him she loves him, but he hasn’t come near saying the L word back.

I keep telling her to cut her losses now. If he’s not committed to the relationship to some degree by now, it’s not likely that he’s going to.

What do you think? Should she cut her losses and run?

    2 years? Leave him!

She needs to run…really fast. The guy is emotionally unavailable and he’s already had too much of her time.
