Ah, the old treadle sewing maching! That's what I learned to sew on. My mother had one; my aunt and grandmother had one; my 4-H sewing leader, Aunt Mary, had one. We girls in the 4-H club were enthralled when Aunt Mary finally got an electric sewing machine. Then she wanted us to learn to sew on that machine that went way too fast. But I did with her guidance and encouragement.

Thanks for bringing back memories, Chloe.

Fingers crossed for you. I'm pretty sure that my Mom had one... her mother's I think and I played around with it. I loved the fact that you could control the speed. The newer versions tended to run away on me or the tension would be off. Yeah, I can sew a button, but never figured out how to use a proper sewing machine. Again... fingers crossed that you find a manual.
