Twisted Oak for Breakfast

Twisted CheeriosDoesn’t El Jefe always say that the Twisted Oak Petite Sirah goes well with cornflakes? Why not Cheerios, too? Seriously, the greatest thing happened when I went camping earlier this summer. A big group of us went up to Lake Alpine, to a lovely out-of-the way spot. On the way there, BK and I stopped in Murphys to visit the Twisted Oak tasting room downtown. While I was lamenting the fact that the Petite Sirah was sold out—which was a shame because I would be making everyone my French toast—it came out that I was the person to come up with that slightly off-the-wall pairing. The guy pouring the wine asked, “You mean that was YOU?” Tickled pink, I answered yes. What fun to be recognized for it. And for those of you who might not have read the orginal post, I promise it really does work. Though I’d probably only truly have the Twisted Oak for breakfast on a camping trip….
