Undereating while pregnant may cause obesity in children

Women who under-eat while they are pregnant – either deliberately or because of an eating disorder – may be unknowingly changing their babies’ fat cells, resulting in the child becoming obesity later in life.
I don’t usually report on animal studies – they are often still too far away from being helpful to humans, but with the increasing popularity of pregorexia (Pregorexics?), this may be important information. You can read more about the early research here: Women who eat too little during pregnancy increase risk of obesity in children.
