Upcoming Pet Events for July

I often receive notices about events to benefit pets in some way, whether it’s donations to shelters or a free doggie bath. And sometimes these events are fun for people too. I wanted to tell you about a couple of them in case you live close enough to go. Or, maybe you can pass along this post to a friend in the area.

July 22-24, 2009 from 6-9 pm, the Deerfield Inn in Deerfield, MA will host Mutts and Martinis to benefit the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society. To take part, purchase an entrée from the summer menu at Champney’s Restaurant & Tavern. When you do this, your dog will receive a healthy, chef-prepared doggie stew with a donation of $10 to help feed a less fortunate canine. That’s right, you can dine with your dog. To help celebrate the event, Deerfield Inn is making all of its 24 rooms dog-friendly. They also offer 102 different martinis, named after Deerfield characters and stories, plus the new “Dirty Dog Muttini.”

July 19, 2009 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Venice Lofts in Philadelphia, PA will turn their outdoor courtyard into a pet heaven for the day. The event is free and open to the public. The Dog Days of Summer Exhibition will feature free dog washes, compliments of Canine Clippers. Attendees can also receive a free consultation with certified pet dog trainer and animal behaviorist Mary Remer. Plus, there will be other opportunities to win prizes or receive pet care discounts. The Pennsylvania Animal Welfare Society will participate in the event. You can even adopt a new pet at the Dog Days of Summer Exhibition.
