Update: Cuts To Medicaid Mental Health Services Halted

According to a Mental Health America email I received this morning,
[...] the Senate sweepingly adopted a bill that will halt long-threatened cuts to Medicaid mental health services. The Senate action blocking implementation of harmful Medicaid regulations came on the heels of House approval of a supplemental funding bill that included the regulation moratorium. Despite earlier veto threats, the President signed this legislation into law on Monday, June 30th.
I added the bold.
This is just more proof that our efforts do pay off, so the next time you get an advocacy alert to send a quick email to your representatives about something you believe in, take action!

I know I’m offtopic, but…
I’ve noticed that when you say to someone you have a mental disorder, they don’t treat you well when you say you have a brain disease (which is also quite true).
I’ve thought about telling people I have a brain disease/disorder at first, then when they aren’t so freaked out about me, I’ll say what the disorder is (alcoholism or depression).
You and I have emailed once or twice. I’m (one of) Airdrie’s male friend. Not sure how to reach you directly.
@ vancouver – You know, that’s an interesting topic – brain diseases vs. mental illnesses (and, of course, how each is perceived by the public). I’m inclined to think “I have a brain disease” makes people say, “Oh, my, I’m so sorry, how are you, is it scary, etc.,” while “I have a mental illness” may make people think, “Oh, wow…”
