Upping the Odds with Acupuncture

When I get a link to the same study or article from more than a few friends, I pay attention.
I got this one more than once this week and my interest is more than piqued:
Women undergoing in vitro fertilization can increase their chances of becoming pregnant by up to 65 percent if they also have acupuncture, a preliminary study suggests….
“Complementing the embryo transfer process with acupuncture seems to increase the odds of pregnancy by 65 percent, compared to sham acupuncture or no adjuvant treatment,” said lead researcher Eric Manheimer, a research associate at the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Center for Integrative Medicine.
Stay tuned for more as this needle-phobe actually goes in search for an acupuncturist.
Seriously.

Gabrielle,
I am a big fan of acupuncture. I have been going for about 3 years now – and love it. Its the best thing that I do for my recovery.
I found out something interesting on my last visit, regarding pregnancy. Not getting pregnant mind you, but still its a great image.
I was told that women whose babies are breech, go see acupuncturist, to have the baby turned. There is a point at the end of the 4th (?) toe that makes this happen.
How cool is that????
Hope you get over the fear soon, and that the treatments work wonders for you.
Hi Gab,
I am new to your blog and think that you bring up great topics on the issue of fertility. My husband and I used in-vitro successfully to get pregnant with my first son in 2007. My speciaist also recommended acupuncture and I found it to be a great stress reliever through the whole process. I also continued to see the homeopathic physician throughout the first trimester.
Oh my gosh, what a relief to hear from you both – you already answered my next question, if anyone had done it and if they would recommend it. Thank you!
Laura, that is a very cool little tidbit! And Trish, I’m so glad you found the blog. I may pick your brain about your homeopathic physician later.
