Use Your Brain To Promote Good Mental and Physical Health

Surely you’ve heard the phrase “Mind over matter”?

Fiona King of NursingDegree.net recently brought It’s All in the Mind: 75 Ways to Think Your Way Into Good Health to my attention.

The article delivers just what it promises – 75 ways to use your mind to help promote good health. Each of the 75 tips is categorized into one of seven groups: General, Dealing with Stress, Illness and Disease, Emotional Health, Diet, Fitness, and Personal Development.

I’m especially interested in two from the Dealing with Stress group:

17. Prepare mentally for bed. Before you ever hit the sack, make sure your mind is ready to sleep. Start creating a thought routine that will get you ready both mentally and physically for bed and help you get the sleep you need to be happy and healthy.

20. Allow yourself to daydream. Daydreams are often are body’s way of taking control when we need a break from the stresses of our busy lives. Give yourself a chance to daydream now and then without interrupting with thoughts of things you should be doing.

I have “Allow yourself to daydream” down pat; however, my routine for preparing mentally for bed currently consists of staying awake until I can squeeze out just enough physical and mental energy to brush my teeth and fall over.

I definitely need to work on that one.

Do any of you have experiences with using your mind to promote good health? Share your thoughts!
