Vacation to Stay-cation to Day-cation

First there was the Vacation. A period of time when you went away from home, discovered something new or maybe visited families and friends. Tough economic times came along. . . .
And then there was the Stay-cation. Because you couldn’t afford to leave town for a week or two, you found a way to take a long weekend, or maybe even a week to vacation at home. Maybe you sprung for a hotel room or a little nearby bed and breakfast. Or maybe you stayed home, but spent every day playing tourist and visiting the sites in your own backyard. But the economy got a little tougher. . . .
And now there’s the Day-cation. If you can’t swing a week or a weekend of at home vacationing, maybe you can find enough to cover one really great day at home. A day of pampering at the spa, a day of shopping and the theater, a day at a sporting event with some really great seats, or whatever you want to do for 24 glorious hours.
It seems like relaxation time is getting shorter and shorter. This can’t be a good thing!
How about you? Are you talking vacation? Is it shorter than last year? Is this year a vacation, a stay-cation or a day-cation?
