Valentine’s Day: Travel, Food and Romance…On a Budget

The Today Show recently invited Valarie D’Elia of www.travelwithval.com to provide some great destinations for you and your significant other this Valentine’s Day. There are some great and inexpensive destinations out there. The most expensive part will be the airfare, but depending on your location that may not be too bad either.

She has you covered with trips on the Mainland US, Hawaii and Europe. All the trips involved are inclusive with a lot of romance. These are great trips that would make a great surprise and be a great opportunity to renew vows or take the dive and pop the question. My personal favorite is the trip to Northern Georgia at a winery and resort with a four course meal, breakfast for two and a Chocolate Turndown. Snow lovers on a Budget — Sun Valley
Lovers on a budget who love to ski can travel to central Idaho and enjoy some affordable rates at Sun Valley. Snowshoe/cross-country skiing: The Wood River Trail System, which winds around Sun Valley and runs down valley to Hailey and Bellevue, is maintained and groomed for snowshoe and cross-country skiing. These trails can be enjoyed at no cost.Winter wildlife walks/snowshoe with a ranger: Reservations are needed for these great outdoor adventures and are free of charge.Museums and Old West history: Even in winter you can explore the heritage of the Wood River Valley. Take a trip back through time to the early years of skiing and challenges facing the pioneers of the sport of skiing, View skis and equipment from the past, and read about the many Olympic athletes who have come from Sun Valley. Learn about the history and beginnings of Sun Valley, Ernest Hemingway’s heritage here, and the history of the Indians and the first settlers. Pick up a free map at the Visitor Information Center for a self-guided walking tour of historic Ketchum.Health clubs: The Wood River YMCA, a $19-million facility, opened in November 2007. Members of any YMCA can visit the facility free of charge, and nonmembers can enjoy all of the amenities for $10 a day, including yoga, Pilates, a lap pool, locker rooms, rock-climbing wall, as well as day care.

Vow renewal on a budget — Hawaii
Couples who want to say “I would do it all over again” can check into the the Outrigger Reef or Outrigger Waikiki hotels on Oahu. Each has a free Vow Renewal Ceremony for guests only.
